Oregon Trail Middle School is located in Olathe, KS. For the 2025-26 school year, I worked on branding for the two major stage shows as well as for a grant-funded LatinX Voices Playwriting Residency on a volunteer basis.
TRAP by Stephen Gregg
TRAP is a play of mystery. Teaser posters are displayed early in promotion, with a secondary teaser (not pictured) and a final promotional poster being distributed a week before the show. Attendees aren’t meant to know much about the play before attending. To that end, these materials were designed to emphasize the aura of mystery to whet the interest of the potential audience. Clues about the subject matter are subtle — a spooky theatre, a spider, the grunge typography, and the red and black color scheme.

Mary Poppins, Jr. by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh
Typically, promotional artwork for Mary Poppins has a heavy, smoggy quality to it, as a nod to the industrial-era London setting. However, in this case, the director specifically requested a springtime feel. To that end, I was inspired by the introductory song — Cherry Tree Lane — to frame the artwork in cherry blossoms. Rather than a gray or nighttime sky, I opted for a twilight feel with a light blue to pink gradient. I used a rich, deep purple to offset the pastels and draw the eye to the custom-illustrated Mary Poppins silhouette. Colorful kites add whimsy and fun to the design, and a vintage-inspired slightly off-kilter font was chosen to finish the look.

LatinX Voices Playwrights Residency
LatinX Oregon Trail Students joined playwright Jerry Manan for a journey into live theatre that bring THEIR stories to life. The residency ended with a staged read through at the Coterie Theatre in Kansas City, MO. This design was inspired by traditional Mexican imagery and colors.
